Gentlemen
Amazing what a wake up call can do - yes, we have enough who have now all officially
said 'yes' and this is a go. Millions of dollars promised and I can now get
the wretched kiwis off my back.
This is the team to date;
Snowcaps
Larry Sunnel - full back/wing - Suzi Sunnel
Dave Walsh - w/fwd/anywhere - Jaquie Walsh
Tony Scot - no 8 - Wendy Scott (Medic)
Gary Galloway - 2nd row
Dedric Watson - wing / FB
Mike Anderson - wing
John Rutherford - fly half / centre
Tom Kirk - wing / wf / hook
Andrew Gilbert - hook / clipboard
Steve Cook - non player (ref) Wendy Cook
Peter Scott - non player
Possibles - Barry Mittleshead & Craig Mackay
Valley Vintage
Sam Rockson - scrum half Joanne Rockson
NWOB's
Paul ( PC ) Campbell - fwd / prop
Zeke Martinez - wing fwd / scrum half /prop ?
Pat Lockridge - scrum half
Dan Bennet - 2nd row AnjaRose Bennet ( physio )
SOB's
Andrew Harvey - centre /wing
Harry Hough - centre/wing
Tim Ivers - prop
Tim Busch - wf /can prop A.N. other spouse
Twits
Steve Baron - 2nd row
Saskatoon
Doug Gillespie - not sure where you play - please let me know
LA
Rick Collins - back row
It looks like have 21 players , 2 non players and 7 spouses. Seem to have
most positions covered but light at flyhalf and as always rather skinny in
the front row. It would be good to get another 5 players so we have some depth.
I will get the state of play on money early next week when we have deposits
in and I will send out an accounting to you all. Please take a moment to look
at the hotel packages.
For those of us in Vancouver, I am waiting on the travel agent for details
but it will be somewhere between $1600 -$1800 per person inc taxes (this is
Vancouver - Santiago, Chile - Buenos Aires - Vancouver). I do not know how
our the guys in the States and other far flung corners of the empire want to
do about travel - please let me know.
Regards
Andrew Gilbert

Update from "Tour Meister" Gilbert
"Gentlemen
The Pacific North
West Old Growth will reconstitute itself (a truly amazing spectacle)for
this major event down in Argentina in Sept 2006.
It looks like I
have drawn the short straw to organse this - Evergreens have already
committed a team and it would be really good for the Old Growth to
put a decent team down there as well.
NWOBs & Snowcaps
have already made some initial commitment (names below) and it would
be really good to try and have as many of the May 2005
"Old Growth" Catalina team to sign on for Argentina.
The festival dates
are Sunday Sept 17th through Sunday Sept 23rd 2006 (13 months from
now)
To enter every
one must sign on for one of the various entry fee & accommodation
packages that they offer. Basically this will cover entry fee, ground
transfers, 6 nights accommodation , breakfasts and two receptions.
Costs are PER PERSON and vary by type of accommodation.
5 star US $1174
(double) US $913 (triple)
4 star US $884 (double) US $836 (triple)
3 star US $681 (double) US $644 (triple) US $620 (quad)
Studio apartment
US$541 per person sleeps 2
One bedroom apartment US$504 per person sleeps 3
Two bedroom apartment US$611 per person sleeps 4
These are all per
person - should your wife , girlfriend or whatever join you they
would also need to pay the same rate as they are considered to be
participants - playing or non playing !
I am working with
a travel agent to sort the air fare out and I expect it will work
out to be between Can$1500 - $2000 per person.
The suggestion
is that we leave around the 10th Sept and stop in Santiago, Chile,
do some sightseeing and maybe try and take in a game against a Chilean
Club (Dedric is expert and is practically a native and has promised
to help - if only by speaking Spanish). I do not have costs for this
as yet.
Based on a 3 star
double room and air fare the cost will about Can$2850 per person.
This excludes spending money and food (other than breakfast). The
cost of 3/5 days in Chile is not in this but would probably be another
$5-600 per person.
So far we have
serious interest from the following;
Knob's
'PC' Campbell (the
original Mr. Old Growth)
Zeke the Aztec God
plus 1 or 2 others
Snowcaps
Tony Scott
Dedric Watson
John Rutherford
Gary Galloway
Larry Sunnel
Craig McKay
Mike Anderson
Tom Kirk
Steve Cook
Andrew Gilbert
Harry Kramm
Jack Stokes
Dedric tells me
that some of the Valley guys are interested , I do really need to
hear from you as we must get cracking and get the show on the road.
(Cruiser, can you check out your Valley guys).
I hate to do this
but we are going need to need to get some money up front very soon
(if only to get you lot to make the commitment). I have registered
the team (US $200) and will open an savings account 'in trust' with
Vancity specifically for the tour.
I would ask that
all those who are really serious about this tour let me know asap
by email and also indicate if spouses are coming along as well. I
am going to suggest a deposit of $200 as a start and we can then
work out a schedule over the next 12 months so that it does not all
come as shock in the last month.
Cheers
Andrew"
